The Wurzeralm funicular railway takes you up to 1,400 m above sea level in no time at all. The circular hiking trail "2 million years in 2 hours" leads around the largest low and high moor in the eastern Limestone Alps.

Hinterstoder on the Höss offers a wide range of activities for hikers, alpinists, mountain bikers and paragliders. The cable car takes you up to an altitude of 1,400 metres in no time.

Interesting facts about the mountain railways in Pyhrn-Priel

Two mountain lifts in Pyhrn-Priel are in operation during the summer months. These include the cable cars in Hinterstoder and on the Wurzeralm in Spital am Pyhrn. However, it is advisable to check the opening times of the respective lifts in advance, as these can vary depending on the weather and season.

In addition to transport up the mountain, the mountain lifts in Pyhrn-Priel offer numerous other attractions in summer:

  • Hiking trails: Many hiking trails lead from the mountain stations into the surrounding mountains.
  • Viewing platforms: Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views over the region.
  • Gastronomy: Many cable cars have cosy mountain huts and restaurants where you can enjoy regional specialities.
  • Children's programmes: Many cable cars have special offers for families with children, such as playgrounds, disc golf or adventure trails.

The gondola in Hinterstoder and the Wurzeralm funicular railway allow the transport of bicycles. However, it is advisable to enquire about the exact conditions and costs in advance.

Please note that on the Wurzeralm only the single trail (category red) into the valley may be ridden, as there is a general ban on cycling on the Wurzeralm!

Pets are allowed on the mountain railways, but not on all of them. It is best to find out in advance whether your pet is welcome and what costs will be incurred.

Yes, the mountain railways offer discounts for families and groups. It's worth asking about special offers.

Even in summer, it can get chilly in the mountains. It is therefore advisable to bring a wind and weatherproof jacket and sturdy shoes. Don't forget rain and sun protection and a first aid kit.

Yes, you can also use the mountain railway for a single journey. The prices for single journeys are generally higher than for a return journey.

Tickets for the mountain railway can usually be purchased directly at the valley stations. It is often also possible to book tickets online.
