The Kalkalpen National Park is the most significant "forest national park" in the Alps. Since its designation as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Kalkalpen National Park has been part of a Europe-wide project for the protection of the last remaining beech primeval forests. These ancient forests with their diversity of habitats are a natural treasure. Here, primeval forest species such as the Alpine longhorn beetle and the white-backed woodpecker find a home.
Our tour in the Reichraminger Hintergebirge takes us along the beech trail from Anzenbach to the Wilden Graben and back. Along the way, we will hike through two types of beech forests found in the national park, each with its typical animal and plant life.
